I need shoes now!  What do I do??

We have some shoes in stock that are available for immediate shipment.  We also send these shoes out for trial purposes for you to determine your correct size.  Please note, we will not have everything in stock that is on our site.  We try to stock several styles in basic colors like black and beige with various different heel heights.

What makes dance shoes different from street shoes?
All dance shoes, both Ladies and Men’s have non-slip suede soles, a metal shank in the arch for support, cushioned, shock absorbent insoles, and are very light-weight and flexible.  Dance shoes can also be worn as street shoes when you no longer want to dance in them, but wearing your dance shoes outside of the dance studio or ballroom will ruin the non slip suede outsole, and it will become a hard leather sole instead.  It is also important avoid getting the suede soles wet, as that will also damage them.  If you live in a dry climate, they’re great for regular street wear and very comfortable!  If you love the fit of our shoes, you can also order any of our dance shoes with a regular street sole.

I have never ordered dance shoes before, are the sizes different?
Glide Dance Shoes are calibrated for American sizing, and they usually run close to the same size as your street shoe size, unless otherwise indicated on the product page. Please note that most women go down a half size from their street shoe size for open toe shoes.  We are able to send out a pair of shoes from our inventory for sizing purposes if you have never worn our shoes before.  We can also work from tracings and measurements that you provide us.  We can never guarantee a shoe will fit you perfectly once it’s made.  However, we can usually make adjustments to the shoes if there is a problem with the fit.

What if the shoes don’t fit properly or I don’t like them?
If the shoes you purchased were one of our regular, stock shoes, they can be returned or exchanged as long as they are in new condition, and have no visible signs of wear. Please call for a return authorization and return them within 14 days of receipt, in the original box, with a briefly stated reason for return.  Shoes that have been worn or soiled cannot be accepted for credit or exchange. Glide Dance Shoes reserves the right to refuse a return.  Shoes that are custom made to your specifications, are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.  We are, however, usually able to make some adjustments to a shoe if there is a problem with the fit.

If I return the shoes I purchased from your inventory, is it my responsibility to pay the shipping Charges?
The purchaser is responsible for shipping costs. We recommend using UPS or USPS Priority Mail so that you will have some way to track your order and insure it’s safe return.

If I send the shoes back and they get lost is that my responsibility?
The manufacturers are not responsible for any lost incoming shipments. Please contact your shipping provider for inquiries about lost shipments.

Can dance shoes be worn outdoors?
It is not advisable because of the delicacy of the non-slip, suede soles. The most important thing to remember, never get them wet!

Can I cut the straps shorter?
Yes, the straps are made extra long to fit anyone’s ankle. They are specially stitched to be cut with regular scissors at an angle. Tip: add a touch of “Krazy Glue” to the cut end.

Why should I use a shoe brush?
As you dance, your suede sole collects debris and wax from the dance floor. The wire brush will clean the sole and bring back the non-slip property of the shoe.
